Data transparency is constantly a relevant topic that is key to any role involving data reporting and analysis. In environmental compliance fields, data transparency is crucial, and can create a big difference in the success or failure of a sampling or data reporting project.

Many companies report their sustainability data to multiple state, federal and voluntary reporting programs. It's important for this data to be transparent for a number of reasons. First, numbers without any details, calculation steps, or any other information behind them are meaningless. Methods of how the data was obtained also must be clear to the user, in order to ensure that the data is valid. Second, verification or internal audits are smooth, efficient, and on schedule when there is transparency in data. With less mistakes made during the verification process, there are less overall costs and fees.

This topic is essential to data management for any purpose, and will be relevant to all attendees, despite what field they work in.

Attendees will learn about:

  • Why data transparency is important to sustainability reporting and verification
  • What methods can be taken to ensure that reported data are transparent
  • And some real examples of what pitfalls other companies have experienced with reporting and verification of their sustainability data

To Make the Most of an EHS & Sustainability Software Investment, Don’t Skimp on the Implementation

March 7, 2018

Software is a powerful tool for accelerating EHS & Sustainability performance, but even the best tool can fail if it’s not implemented well, according to a new NAEM report that was published today. At the heart of the findings in NAEM’s “Ready, Set, Implement: How to Successfully Deploy an EHS & Sustainability Software System” is that success—or failure— often comes down to how well the company mapped the system to its core processes, trained its users and sold the value to the organization.
