The Affiliates Council complements NAEM's core objective of strengthening the profession of environmental management, and exists as an additional resource to NAEM members in achieving their professional goals. Since its formation in 1996, the Council has provided environmental managers exposure to state-of-the-art services and technical capabilities. The Affiliates represent strategic partners to "in-house" environmental managers, and are an important source of knowledge and insight in helping to solve environmental management problems and in addressing evolving management challenges.

NAEM selects high calibre organizations who demonstrate a long-term commitment to the Association. As such, membership in the Affiliates Council is solely available on a company-wide or corporate level. All those who provide service and/or products to environmental managers in industry or government are eligible for membership. Currently, the Affiliates Council is composed of the full range of service providers for environmental managers, including: environmental, engineering, and consulting firms; accountants and law firms; information management specialists, software developers, and technologists.

The Affiliates Council recognizes the valuable capabilities of these environmental professionals. All association programs and initiatives are based on learning through peer-to-peer and business-to-business information sharing. As such, the expertise and skills of Affiliate members are integrated into NAEM's programming.

The total number of Council members is restricted such that an appropriate balance exists between managers and service-providers. This balance maintains the notion that NAEM's primary focus is its environmental managers, that Council members are necessary and meaningful to the extent that benefits from their efforts actually flow to the environmental managers.

NAEM is an association of corporate, facility and municipal "in-house" environmental managers, with membership being either individual or corporate, in contrast to an association of service and/or product providers.

Until further notice, NAEM is no longer accepting new affiliate council members. If you are interested in this type of membership please send an email to Brianna Gianti.
