Facilitating Change: Working with DoD to Reduce Chemical Risks October 23, 2007 --- Vancouver, BC

NAEM is hosting a one-day meeting focused on advancing the environmental stewardship of the Department of Defense (DoD) as it relates to chemical risk management. The goal of this session is to identify and explore opportunities to implement new and/or enhance existing life cycle approaches within the DoD to create a more environmentally sustainable military.

This day-long session marks is the kick-off meeting of the Chemical Risk Management (CRM) Work Group which is focused on the identification of priority issues to address through the development of issue papers that outline the issues, obstacles and opportunities for implementing life cycle processes.

• Develop an organizational outline for how the NAEM CRM Work Group will operate.
• Develop a list of priority items that can be initially addressed in order to accomplish the Mission.
• Develop a Work Plan and product for each of the priority items (such as a Work Plan for the development of a white paper on the topic) in addition to soliciting volunteers to work on each item.

Given that DoD’s overall environmental programs are well established, NAEM is seeking to bring together stakeholders - from government and industry - who have a perspective on the regulatory and non-regulatory policy drivers that affect the chemical risk management of DoD’s production stream.
