Very large businesses capable of altering the fundamentals of the political system have entered the climate data arena in new and meaningful ways. They are reducing their impact, and offering up resources to further our understanding of climate impacts. Report: Circular Economy Makes Economic Sense
The UK's current linear economy is not sustainable and needs to be changed to a circular economy, according to a report by the UK Environmental Audit Committee. The committee, which was appointed by the British House of Commons, says a circular approach of re-using resources and maximizing their value over time makes economic sense in addition to the environmental benefits. Microsoft Drops ALEC Membership
Microsoft has announced that it is ending its relationship with the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a conservative public-policy lobbying group. The decision was apparently made in response to ALEC's anti-renewables lobbying efforts, including measures to repeal renewable energy standards and block the disclosure of chemicals in fracking. USDA Reins In Misleading Organic Labels
The Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced it will rein-in misleading language on packaging. Foods that are not certified organic will no longer be able to display that word on the front panel of products. Read more...
