Director, Global Sustainability Programs

Gretchen Digby is the Director of Global Sustainability Programs for the Center for Energy Efficiency & Sustainability (CEES) at Ingersoll Rand. In this role, she is focused on establishing world-class sustainability training programs as well as leading global engagement activities for the company's 39,000 employees to further integrate sustainability into the company culture. She has achieved great success and external recognition for her efforts establishing Global Volunteer Green Teams that hold events and activities to increase awareness of employees on actions that lead to more sustainable workplaces, homes, and communities. Gretchen is focused on raising employee competencies and measuring the value of sustainability through unique partnerships and outside-the-box approaches.

Gretchen joined Ingersoll Rand in 2001 as a corporate environmental, health and safety leader until joining the CEES in 2010. She began her career in manufacturing with Milliken & Company as Engineering Services Manager. Gretchen holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from North Carolina State University.

2014 Priorities:

  1. Increase % employees engaged in sustainability-related activities
  2. Rollout new Design for Sustainability Certification Program for product development teams
  3. Implement broader recognition program for sustainable actions.

NAEM’s 2017 Calendar Features Latest Practices, New Formats, Fresh Ideas

Today NAEM announced its 2017 conference calendar, focused on the latest management challenges and emerging practices for environment, health and safety (EHS) and sustainability leaders. "Because the EHS&S field continues to evolve along with the spectrum of risks it manages, NAEM's 2017 calendar was developed to be timely and relevant to the needs of those leading these programs within companies," said Executive Director Carol Singer Neuvelt.

Corporate EHS & Sustainability Leaders to Participate in Platte River Cleanup in Denver for 2016 NAEM Day of Service

October 11, 2016

When NAEM joins the Greenway Foundation for a cleanup along the South Fork of the Platte River in downtown Denver later this month, its efforts will be powered by environmental, safety and sustainability leaders from companies such as Toyota Motor North America Inc., Procter & Gamble Co., Lockheed Martin Corp., Bose Corp. and The WhiteWave Foods Co.
