Director Sustainability and Risk

Ms. Shaver serves as Director of Sustainability and Risk for Cisco Systems. Cisco is the worldwide leader in networking that transforms how people connect, communicate and collaborate. In this capacity Kathleen leads product environmental compliance, sustainability, ethical sourcing and risk management for Cisco's worldwide supply chain. She also serves the broader sustainability community as the Vice Chairman of the Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) and as a member of the Global Reporting Initiative's (GRI) Technical Advisory Committee.
Most recently, she held the positions of Director of EHS and Social Compliance for Mattel. In this role she lead sustainable sourcing and stakeholder engagement for the world's largest toy company. Kathleen's prior experience to includes extensive environmental and regulatory affairs positions in the private and non-profit sectors including roles serving as President of the Chlorine Institute and Vice President of the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association. Additionally, she has directed environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives for several business units of AlliedSignal and Honeywell.
She has held faculty appointments with major institutions including the University of Maryland, University of Central Missouri and the Presidio Graduate School teaching courses in sustainability and public heath policy.
Ms. Shaver has been recognized internationally for her expertise in business continuity planning and the promotion of public-private sector partnerships to mitigate the impact of infectious disease transmission including pandemic influenza.
Ms. Shaver holds an M.S. in environmental health science from the University of Oklahoma School of Public Health and earned her B.A. in interdisciplinary studies from American University's School of Public Affairs in Washington, DC.
