Whether you have facilities that are certified to ISO 14001 or not, the new ISO 14001 standard which was published this week is a key industry benchmark that all NAEM members should be familiar with. Written in the new "High Level Structure", ISO 14001:2015 will also become easier to integrate with other management systems, helping organizations become more efficient and save time.

Environmental performance continues to be a core issue for industrial companies and ISO 14001 sets basic expectations for a credible management approach. Many NAEM member organizations have implemented ISO 14001 in a formal or informal manner and will want to know what the new requirements are and possibly reassess their business strategy around ISO certification.

Top Takeaways:

  • The specific major changes in the standard (and there are many of them).
  • Approaches to implementing the new/modified requirements.
  • The options for transitioning from the existing standard to the new version.
  • How to leverage the new version to drive improved performance.

Speakers:

  • James Margolis, Partner; Environmental Resources Management (ERM)
  • Terry A. Mors, QEP, Senior Consultant; Environmental Resources Management (ERM), Member of US TAG TC 207

To Make the Most of an EHS & Sustainability Software Investment, Don’t Skimp on the Implementation

March 7, 2018

Software is a powerful tool for accelerating EHS & Sustainability performance, but even the best tool can fail if it’s not implemented well, according to a new NAEM report that was published today. At the heart of the findings in NAEM’s “Ready, Set, Implement: How to Successfully Deploy an EHS & Sustainability Software System” is that success—or failure— often comes down to how well the company mapped the system to its core processes, trained its users and sold the value to the organization.
