Speaker Biographies

Paul Narog, Director Environmental Operations, 3M
Mr. Narog has corporate responsibility for 3M’s sustainability initiatives and environmental regulatory management and governance programs. Regarding sustainability, his group manages company sustainability goals, employee education, external communications, environmental stakeholder partnerships and strategic support to business units. In the areas of environmental regulatory management and governance, his group coordinates U.S. environmental regulatory affairs and permitting, ISO 14001, compliance auditing and environmental policies and standards. Paul is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt, a member of NAEM and A&WMA, sits on the University of Michigan Center for Sustainable Systems External Advisory Board and is a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP).

Lawren Townsend, Manager of Environmental Sustainability, PepsiCo
Lawren Cooper is an environmental sustainability manager at PepsiCo. She received her B.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Environmental Science and an MPH from the University of Michigan in Environmental Health Science and Industrial Hygiene. She works on a variety of sustainability projects such as product carbon footprinting, publishing internal newsletters and reports, and integrating sustainability decision-making into all PepsiCo innovation. In addition, she is the founding member and co-chair of PepsiCo Green, an employee grassroots team that raises awareness, incites action, and ingrains environmental sustainability into the way business is done.Lawren tries to live what she teaches. She and her husband are building the first LEED-certified house in Huntsville, Alabama. They both love the outdoors and do what they can to lessen their impact on the environment.
