Continuing Education Credits

NAEM conferences may qualify for continuing education credits through the prominent certifying organizations that support the EHS profession. This may include pre-submission of the conference agenda, a letter confirming attendance or an approval request form. Below is a list of common certifying bodies and an overview of how to request their certification credits. Certification Offered:
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Process: For any session NAEM offers on industrial hygiene, safety or ethics, the technical hours can be claimed on the participant's worksheet which can be found at http://abih.org/maintain-certification/cm-by-worksheet.

  • Professional certification (choice of designation):
  • CHFP: Certified Human Factors Professional
  • CPE: Certified Professional Ergonomist
  • CUXP: Certified User Experience Professional
Associate certification (choice of designation; optional, temporary stepping stone to Professional level)
  • AEP: Associate Ergonomics Professional
  • AHFP: Associate Human Factors Professional
  • AUXP: Associate User Experience Professional
Process: For conferences or webinars that pertain to ergonomics, participatory hours can be submitted using proof of registration or a certificate of attendance.   • STSC: Safety Trained Supervisor Construction
  • CET: Certified Environmental, Safety and Health Trainer
Designations Offered:
  • GSP: Graduate Safety Practitioner
  • TSP: Transitional Safety Practitioner
Process: NAEM conference attendees may receive credit for those events related to safety, health and the environment. To request a certificate of attendance, please call NAEM at (202) 986-6616. Process: IPEP will award recertification points for NAEM event attendees who provide a registration confirmation, an event program or a certificate of attendance.
