Timothy James Glen

Global EMS Manager
Agilent Technologies Inc.
What are currently working on?
Most recently I worked on the successful spin-off of Keysight Technologies from Agilent Technologies and ensuring all regulatory permits were identified and implemented prior to separation. Agilent is now a purely chemical and bio-analytical product manufacturer, operating in the life science diagnostic industry. I am currently working on the ergonomic, industrial hygiene and waste management programs.

What do you like about your job?
My role, in a multi-disciplinary international environmental health and safety team, allows me to help others and provide technical expertise to challenging and complex problems.

What is your biggest challenge in your current role?
Resetting the energy and water conservation efforts in the U.S. and aligning them with the corporate conservation metrics and conservation goals/objectives.

What career accomplishment are you most proud of?
Having worked on numerous environmental health projects throughout Australia, America, and the Middle East, I am most proud of the work I did while working in the United Arab Emirates, where I was able to help manage environmental services for the government, with a focus on transferring environmental protection knowledge to local experts--including, accrediting environmental consultants, evaluating environmental studies, and establishing compliance and monitoring programs.

What advice would you have for someone entering the field today?
Explore a lot of subjects and after a while become an expert in a particular field.

What are the three words your spouse/colleagues/best friends would use to describe you?
Honest, hardworking, and determined.

What aspect to the natural world/environment impresses you the most? Why?
Growing up in very remote outback region of Australia, I've always been impressed with an animal's ability to adapt in extremely harsh environments.

What do you like to do during your free time?
I love to travel with my wife, especially to warm tropical regions, and love all sorts of water sports. I'm also a keen basketballer and touch rugby player.
