NAEM Welcomes New Corporate Members

Washington D.C., Aug. 27, 2012 - Seven new corporate members joined NAEM this year, demonstrating their organizational commitments to environment, health and safety (EHS) and sustainability excellence, and adding fresh voices to the association's Board of Regents.

By joining at the corporate level, Chrysler Group LLC, Dean Foods, Anvil Knitwear Inc., Illumina Inc., Applied Materials Inc., Mars Inc. and Procter & Gamble all will receive representation on association's Board of Regents, composed of 80 leadership companies from across industries.

NAEM President Kelvin Roth said he welcomes the diverse perspectives the new members will bring to the Regents' bi-annual benchmarking meetings.

"Through membership in trade associations many of us have a good idea of what constitutes a best-in-class practice," said Roth, who is the Director of EHS for AMCOL International Corp. "But participating in NAEM exposes us to ideas from other industries, helping us to build the world-class programs most of us are really aiming for."

The new companies also will receive membership for up to 15 members of their EHS and sustainability staff.

"Successful EHS and sustainability management requires a rare combination of technical expertise, business acumen and the ability to motivate others to change," said NAEM Executive Director Carol Singer Neuvelt. "For companies who want to cultivate these skills in their employees, NAEM's educational programming and discussion groups continue to be a valuable resource for professional development."
