Speaker Biographies:

John Simon

John Simon

Mr. Simon is an Executive Vice President of WSP Environment & Energy, an environmental, sustainability and energy consulting firm whose US headquarters are located in Reston, Virginia. Mr. Simon specializes in the investigation, remediation, and risk and environmental liability management related to hazardous and contaminated sites. He directs the due diligence assessment, investigation, and remediation at over 100 sites each year. Mr. Simon also has expertise with the technical aspects of environmental insurance and provides technical support to various insurers.

Mr. Simon has authored or coauthored over 50 technical articles, columns, and book chapters. In addition to working for WSP, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the Remediation Journal, a John Wiley & Sons publication. Mr. Simon is also an active member of the ASTM Green Remediation Standard Committee as well as the Sustainable Remediation Forum (SURF). He assisted in the publication of the SURF White Paper on Sustainable Remediation, which was published in the Remediation Journal in June 2009. Mr. Simon received a B.E. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and an M.S. in Environmental Engineering and Science from Stanford University in Stanford, California.

Greg Carli

Greg Carli

Mr. Carli is a principal and Senior Project Manager at CRA, a licensed professional engineer in multiple states, and is the Principal-in-Charge of the CRA Institute, CRA's training and educational services department. Mr. Carli's environmental engineering professional practice includes special emphasis on sustainable business practices, hazardous waste site investigation and remediation, remedial construction management, and due diligence and litigation support. Specific project experience encompasses environmental footprint analyses, sustaianblity auditing, site characterization and remedial design for contaminated industrial and hazardous waste sites, construction of remedial systems, negotiations with regulatory agencies, and environmental risk management.

Mr. Carli assisted CRA with the creation of CRA's sustainable business practice group in response to CRA's growing base of clients in the areas Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development. In this capacity, he has worked with a number of CRA's clients to advise them on approaches integrating commonplace environmental matters, such as waste handling practices, energy consumption and conservation, and sustainable design into a business improvement and business sustainability framework

Todd Hagermeyer

Todd Hagermeyer

Mr. Hagemeyer is an Associate and Senior Hydrogeologist with Geosyntec Consultants in Kennesaw, Georgia. He has over 20 years of experience performing and managing environmental projects for a wide range of RCRA, CERCLA, and Brownfield sites and other commercial/industrial properties being repurposed.

He has extensive experience with hydrogeologic site characterizations, complex groundwater flow and transport modeling, and selection, design, implementation, monitoring, and optimization of a wide range of remediation systems. Mr. Hagemeyer has also provided environmental management expertise to various industrial firms globally to quantify and manage environmental liability at portfolios of sites, typically associated with mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Hagemeyer is an ASTM task member for the development of guidance standards for Green and Sustainable Remediation.
