Abby Rubright

Abby Rubright is Director of Sustainability at Calgon Carbon Corporation, a Kuraray company, where she leads the development and global implementation of the company’s sustainability strategy. She works across functions and regions to establish practical priorities, strengthen governance and accountability, improve environmental and greenhouse gas data, and integrate sustainability into business decisions and day-to-day operations.

Abby brings more than a decade of experience in sustainability and environmental, health and safety leadership across global manufacturing organizations. Her work has included sustainability reporting, management systems, auditing, enterprise risk, data and analytics, culture change, and leadership development. She is known for bringing structure to complex challenges, asking candid questions, and helping teams turn strategy into measurable action.

An active NAEM contributor since 2021, Abby has spoken at NAEM programs on developing new leaders, succession planning, EHS auditing, and the realities of remote and hybrid work. She values NAEM’s ability to bring practitioners together for honest peer learning and practical problem-solving. As a board member, she is committed to strengthening member value, advancing the EHS and sustainability profession, and supporting the next generation of leaders while leveraging the existing leadership strengths.

Located outside of Pittsburgh, PA, Abby also serves as an adjunct professor in environmental management at Duquesne University. She holds a Master of Science in Environmental Science and Management from Duquesne University and a Bachelor of Arts in Geology from The College of Wooster.
