Abby Rubright

Abby Rubright is a Director of Sustainability at Calgon Carbon, a Kuraray Company, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In this role, she leads the company’s corporate sustainability strategy, advancing goals across environmental performance, people, and product stewardship. Abby works closely with operations, engineering, and senior leadership to translate sustainability objectives into actionable initiatives that improve performance and support long‑term business value.

An influential EHS and sustainability leader, Abby has successfully developed, implemented, and sustained integrated EHS and sustainability management systems, programs, and processes throughout her career. She is known for her collaborative, pragmatic approach and her ability to help organizations navigate complex challenges while driving continuous improvement.

Abby’s core passion is coaching and mentoring others, empowering teams to thrive through change and recognize that short‑term challenges can lead to long‑term gains when supported by the right strategies and mindset.

Originally from Ohio, Abby holds a B.A. in Geology from The College of Wooster and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Management from Duquesne University. She also teaches at the graduate level at Duquesne University because she enjoys sharing her passion, real‑world experience, and practical insights with the next generation of EHS and sustainability professionals.
