Ted Stephens is a seasoned EHS leader with more than two decades of experience spanning military aviation maintenance, telecom operations, and large-scale field safety leadership. He currently serves as the Corporate Director of Environmental Health & Safety for USIC, North America’s leading provider of underground utility damage prevention services, where he supports the safety and compliance needs of over 14,000 employees across 48 states.
At USIC, Ted has played a key role in driving innovation and cultural change — most notably through the enterprise deployment of an AI-powered, video-based, safety system with in-cab coaching that has significantly reduced preventable motor vehicle incidents. He partners closely with operations, legal, HR, and IT teams to implement scalable, data-driven safety solutions that protect people and ensure service continuity for critical national infrastructure.
Ted is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Safety from Waldorf University.
He brings a grounded, operationally focused approach to safety—built on practical experience, strong technical knowledge, and a passion for protecting the people who keep essential services running.
