Holly Emerson

Holly has almost two decades driving innovation that contributes to a cleaner economy. In her work she has developed methodologies for assessing the carbon impact of products and solutions, set science-based targets, guided long-term materiality and sustainability strategy, and guided investments in renewable energy.

Prior to joining Duke, Holly held sustainability roles at Ingersoll Rand and Trane Technologies, Johnson Controls and Dialight.

Holly is a former member of the GreenBiz Executive Network and has served on the National Science Foundation’s Industry/University Collaborative Research Center’s Sustainably Integrated Buildings and Sites Industry Advisory Board, on which she was the inaugural chair. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business. She is an FSA credential holder and a LEED™ AP.
