Mary Beth Hyder is a seasoned executive whose career spans global operations, environmental strategy, enterprise risk, and leadership development. She began her career as an Industrial Sales Engineer after graduating from Lehigh University, later expanding into Operations as a fuel distribution Terminal Manager, where she led regional tank replacement programs, strategic planning initiatives, and staff development. She also earned her MBA from Penn State University during this time.
As Chevron advanced its environmental commitments under Corporate Policy, Mary Beth became an early member of Chevron Environmental Management Company (CEMC). Her work included stakeholder and community engagement, liability reserve management, negotiations with agencies and third parties, and the development of CEMC’s long term strategy. She later led global Operational Excellence implementation across 32 countries and architected innovative contracting strategies that reshaped how environmental projects were executed worldwide.
Mary Beth went on to serve as Chevron’s Corporate Global Audit Director, guiding enterprise evaluations of operational, environmental, process safety, personal safety, and stakeholder performance. She strengthened alignment with enterprise risk, reported program performance to the C suite and Board of Directors. She leveraged her prior experience leading complex audits across refineries, upstream fields, shipping vessels, pipelines, and global supply chain operations. Her work also included implementing management systems across both upstream and downstream organizations.
Most recently, Mary Beth served as Principal for Chevron’s senior executive leadership programs, designing and delivering development experiences that enhanced leaders’ effectiveness in driving management system performance to ultimately enhance Operational Excellence results. She has recently left Chevron to explore new opportunities.
A committed mentor and community advocate, Mary Beth has served on multiple nonprofit boards and remains passionate about supporting organizations that strengthen the communities where she has lived and worked.
