Shaun Carvalho

Shaun Carvalho is chief safety officer at Shawmut Design and Construction, leading the team in piloting and implementing processes and technologies to enhance Shawmut’s world-class safety program. Previously vice president and safety director, Carvalho was the driving force behind multiple initiatives including Safety Week, the implementation of a new safety app, and establishing safety communication channels.

Carvalho won the 2024 AGC of Massachusetts Safety Leadership Award and the inaugural Industry Advancement Award, was named a BuiltWorlds Maverick, and a Building Design + Construction 40 Under 40. He is an active member of the Construction Safety Roundtable of Eastern Massachusetts; American Society of Safety Professionals New York City Chapter; Massachusetts and Rhode Island AGC Safety Committees; and the AGC MA CARE Construction Safety Program.

Carvalho graduated from Keene State College with a B.S. in safety studies, is an OSHA-authorized instructor and Certified HSE-Mental Focus Specialist.
