The science is clear. The public is ready. The time for climate action is now.
Even as I read through the most dire reports on how little time we have to de-carbonize our world, I am filled with optimism about the future we are in the process of creating.

It might seem odd to be positive at such a time, but seeing the millions of people who took to the streets last week resonated as an unmistakable inflection point. Speaking with one united voice, they told us that the time for climate action is now.

It’s time to break through the traditional conversation about the costs and limitations. It’s time to think differently about business value. It’s time to align our resources to invest in the shared imperative of saving life as we know it on earth.

For those of you who have been quietly working within your organizations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions for decades, the world is finally ready to seek your counsel and to collaborate with you on integrating your work into the fabric of business operations.

This week we are releasing a new report on Leading GHG Reduction Strategies, which shows how leading companies are already making impressive strides in reducing their carbon footprints, and engaging others in that mission.

In honor of Climate Week we will highlight some of those programs through our blog and social media channels, and we encourage you to join the conversation to share some of the stories we haven’t yet heard. At next month’s Forum we’ll come together in Toronto to trade more best practices and to learn how the NAEM community can best support your efforts going forward.

On behalf of NAEM, I’d like to thank you for your role in transforming business culture to support environmental sustainability. We know it’s not easy, but we hope you can use the momentum from this week of action to fuel your resolve for what comes next. As always, we’ll be here to help you make those goals a reality.

With hope and optimism,
Carol
