Peter concentrates his practice in environmental and energy law, with a focus on renewable generation, sustainable development, land use and economic development. With a litigation background and a deep understanding of renewable energy policy, he advises clients in the energy sector at every stage of a project lifecycle, from initial conception to successful litigation.

He regularly advocates in state and federal court, as well as before public service commissions and other regulatory bodies.

Prior to joining Hodgson Russ, Peter had a solo practice serving clients in the energy sector, which arose from his work as the Director of Policy and Business Development for a national developer, builder, and operator of commercial-scale solar and energy storage systems, and as an energy law fellow at NYU School of Law’s Guarini Center. He has authored various articles on renewable energy incentives, the Federal Power Act, state and federal jurisdiction over electricity markets, and environmental policy.

Peter has served as the Chair of the Policy Committee for the New York Solar Energy Industries Association and as a member of the New York City Bar Association’s Energy Committee. He previously practiced as a litigation associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, and clerked for the Honorable John Gleeson in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.

Based in New York City, he holds a law degree from NYU School of Law and a B.A. from Harvard University.
