His career commenced with ConocoPhillips in the Central North Sea, where he oversaw control system healthcare and operational support for automation systems across three offshore platforms. Over time, he transitioned to project facilitation within the Operational Excellence team, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency. Later, Shiv migrated to Engineering and Asset Integrity, where his responsibilities included ensuring asset performance standards, initiating corrective actions, and overseeing equipment specifications, design, testing, and implementation.
