Award Category: Championing Technology Innovation

Maxime Cremel, Manager of EHS Governance and Corporate Legal at Netflix, was nominated for the NAEM NexGen Leaders Award in the Championing Technology Innovation focus area in recognition of his six years in the profession and his leadership in modernizing Netflix’s global EHS technology, data governance, and risk-management systems. Cremel led the redefinition of Netflix’s Global EHS Governance and Assurance data and technology strategy, building consensus across regional workplace, studio, production, HR, and legal stakeholders while establishing an EHS Data Governance Policy and accountability model that balances regional ownership with enterprise standards. His technology and vendor strategy is projected to deliver approximately $80,000 in annual savings through tool rationalization and vendor negotiations, while a new incident-management dashboard and API integration has improved access to enterprise incident trends. He also drove implementation of a global ergonomics program that, within its first two weeks, generated 1.5 times more platform access, four times more self-assessments, and three times more virtual assessments than the highest-activity period of the previous platform’s launch, with e-learning completion reaching 97% across APAC, EMEA, and LATAM. Cremel further led the transition of regulatory compliance content from an external vendor to an in-house model, established 10 global KPIs for Workplace EHS, and built Netflix’s EHS supplier risk-assessment program.

Beyond traditional EHS technology, he has championed responsible generative AI adoption by developing use cases for regulatory-change forecasting, supplier risk scoring, and Corporate Legal applications. Through technical expertise, business acumen, cross-functional influence, and a focus on measurable outcomes, Cremel has demonstrated how emerging technology and disciplined data governance can improve EHS performance, efficiency, decision-making, and organizational risk management.
