Lockheed Martin’s Cynthia DiMeglio Receives NAEM’s NexGen Leaders Award

NAEM NexGen Leader Award - Cynthia DiMeglio
TORONTO, Ont., October 16, 2019 – Today the National Association for Environmental, Health Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S) Management (NAEM) presented a NexGen Leaders Award to Cynthia DiMeglio, ESH Senior Manager for Lockheed Martin, Rotary and Mission Systems.

Ms. DiMeglio was one of eight corporate EHS&S leaders recognized at NAEM’s Excellence Awards ceremony which took place during the largest annual gathering for environment, health, and safety, and sustainability decision-makers — NAEM’s 27th annual EHS&S Management Forum.

Among many noted accomplishments, Ms. DiMeglio’s nomination outlined her successful effort to address and mitigate ergonomic risk for Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS), a Lockheed business area with approximately 35,000 employees, which achieved a 24% reduction in the number of recordable ergonomic injuries from 2016-2018. To drive this result, Ms. DiMeglio implemented a proactive, standardized approach to not only target and reduce risk with technology, training and resources, but also encouraged collaboration between Engineering, Operations and ESH by employing a unique strategy to secure a manufacturing engineer for her team two days a week on an 18-month rotation. Ms. DiMeglio is also leading a Corporate ESH Talent Development team tasked with delivering guidance to empower ESH professionals to better prepare for their next roles.

“Cindy leads by example in demonstrating her commitment to the development of the ESH team,” states manager Yvonne Slate, ESH Director, Lockheed Martin, RMS, in her nomination of Ms. DiMeglio. “She was promoted to a new position about one year ago and in that short time assessed the needs of the RMS ESH department, created roles and responsibilities for her team members that aligned with their expertise, interests, career goals and the vision of leadership. The structure supports a strong ESH management system across RMS and delivers compliance, injury reduction and talent development.”
